Halló my friend,
Many of my friends on the Inter-net say that they like to look up into my sky and see the fire-works my people shoot up to celebrate on their New Year's Eve.
The fire-works are louder than my Northern Lights, and sometimes wake up my sheep, but they are always on time. And if you are not very busy, you can come and see them. (I have space for you.)
** How to knit like an Icelandic man **
If you are a human who does not like to be cold, it would be good for you to wear a warm lopapeysa, knitted from my sheep's wool.
That is why Þórgnýr Thoroddsen, whose name is very hard to say, would like to show you how to knit like an Icelandic man.
If you see him on one of my streets, and would like him to show you how to knit like an Icelandic man, just call out “Halló, Icelandic man with a difficult name who knits! Stop and show me how!” He will not mind at all.
(And if you are wondering, my women also know how to knit.)
** I am very photo-genic **
Maybe you are like many of my friends who would like to visit me and see me with their own eyes, and walk on me with their own feet.
But you are just a very, very busy human, who has many things to do, and many other humans to see. And you just cannot come and visit me every time I send you an e-mail.
That is why the people who help me on my Inter-net have made a special page for you where you can see very many moving pictures with me in them.
The moving pictures have been made by clever people like you, who own good cameras, and whose hands do not shake when they are taking pictures.
You can see them if you klikk hér.
** You do not have to give me a gift **
I have heard that many people like to give their friends gifts in December.
But don't worry. Even though we are friends, you do not have to give me anything.
I already have everything I need.
I have good mountains for you to climb on, many waterfalls that are falling for you, curious horses who want to be your friends, and friendly people who make good music for you to listen to with your ears and dance to with your feet. And many other things.
So you see, you do not have to get me anything.
See you soon,
—Iceland
